A painting of the Matterhorn (Zermatt, Suisse) in the very last of the day's light. Done as a commission piece for a friend.
Living in Switzerland, this is an iconic image that everyone around the world recognizes. There isn't much Switzerland is known for, but the Matterhorn really stands out. At least once a day, I walk past some poster or product that uses this mighty mountain to represent its true 'Swiss-ness'. It is a constant presence in my life, in a good way, but when I see the mountain up close, the real mountain, all that other stuff melts away. It becomes its own thing, hundreds of thousands (?) of years old, it was there before all the products tried to claim it as theirs and will be there long after.
